I unwrapped the van this morning and I noticed that the side of the window frame was sitting proud on the right hand side. I looked over at the other side and the wood was sitting flush. What on earth had I done wrong?

It appeared that I had made an error when offering the frame up to the caravan. I assumed that the side where the wood was sticking out was the wrong side, but was it? Thankfully I have taken loads of pictures so I scuttled back indoors to the computer and had a look through the pictures to see if I had a good shot that showed the frame position before I removed it. As chance would have it I didn't have a really good picture, but I did find this one that shows the wood is supposed to stand proud.

Nothing for it but to take it all back out, clean out the sealant, find out what was wrong and then get it back in again. Unfortunate, but I just had to get on with it.

What had gone wrong was that the plywood on the right hand side was still attached properly to the frame. It sits in between the window frame and the wood in the side panel. This is what makes the frame stick out a little. On the other side I hadn't attached the plywood yet and that is why the wood went in flush!

Now that I know where I went wrong I was able to resite the window frame and screw it back in place. By the time I had that done the afternoon was slipping away and another weekend was about done. Basically I was fed up looking at the bloody thing so I wrapped it up and went indoors to relax a little. Early shift next week, so I can get some work done in the afternoons. Fully hoping to have the window back in by Wednesday. Once that is done I will seal up all the trims on the van. That means that I can then get on with rebuilding the inside of the caravan. Hopeful that next Sunday will see me almost finished. That would be nice!
