Famous last words. Was not really enthusiastic about this today, probably because it had been such a pain yesterday. I had imagined that it would be easier. So, while my good lady wife nipped off to get more no-nails glue from the local hardware store I pottered about cleaning odd bits of mastic off etc. When she came back I got on with the job proper. This new glue worked a lot better. An awful lot better. It grabbed the panel properly and left my hands free to tuck in the bits of trim etc and the result was that the job was done in less than 15 minutes. No clamps needed. And I only used a tube and a bit!
I celebrate by doing nothing else and having a Sunday off. Bad move. I work shifts and had banked on being able to get out in the afternoons and doing a little each day as I am nightshift this week. Weather forecasters got it a little wrong and each night there was a smurry rain which lasted through the mornings and into the afternoons. The first day I get out is Thursday and it is a glorious day so I can crack on a little. Time to fit the inside panel back in....

Now she is starting to look more like a caravan again. There are some little joinery jobs to be done making sure it all fits back in properly and the main problem area is still that bit on the far side which I have had to fabricate from new. It is far from the best job I have ever done and I am going to have to make sure that it is sound before I can get the aluminium back on. Need to do that tomorrow if I can because the forecast is for RAIN on Sunday. If I can get the outside weatherproof then I can get to grips with the inside jobs like tidying up that wiring, and building a box for the leisure battery. Thats all for today though. |
