Decisions decisions.

Late start this morning. Found that the website wasn't working and can't quite work out why. Must be a problem at the webhosts end I suppose.

I am quite keen to start replacing timber in the van now. I think that I have removed all the bad stuff so I can start to cut more new wood and treat it all in readiness for rebuilding. Working down the left hand side I clean all the wood out, all the while thinking about the right hand side. I am having an easy job of removing the timber on the left because that part of the window frame has rotted away allowing me access. As I work, I am looking at the other side and trying to figure out how I am going to get in at the rotten timber in the wall. Thats when I decided to liberate the window frame from the front of the van.

The whole bottom of it is hanging loose now anyway. All I have to do is figure where the screws are that are holding it on at the top and cut them (they are screwed down into the frame...screwheads are all hidden). I fixed two little batons on to hold it in place while I cut away all the holding screws and then gave my brother a shout to help me lift the window frame away. It is so light that it takes us by surprise! The two pieces of plywood that I have cut to repair the corner probably weigh about half of the whole of the rest of the frame! Window frame removed

Now that I have taken it out I kind of wish that I had done it earlier. Access is now unimpeded and I no longer have to worry about damaging the window frame as I work. It also lets me in at the rotten timbers on the other side of the van (the side with the door in it). Between that and cutting some pieces of wood to size the last of the afternoon runs away with itself and I call it a day.
